Once there live a son of the devil, Therin, who was searching for a bride. Above the underworld there lived twin sisters, Ruba and Sayana. People who saw Ruba would say "She is kind and beautiful." What they didn't see was the darkness within her. When they looked upon Sayana with her plain features they would cross themselves and call her devilgirl. For in their land beauty and goodness went hand and hand. Onenight while asleep in her bed, Sayana dreams of a burning pain on her arm. When her mother goes to wake her she cries out " what is this on your arm the mark of Satan." Confused Sayana looks upon the mark from her dream. Her mother crying and wailing calls for the priest. Upon their arrival states " She is cursed and marked as a bride of the devil's son." Hearing this Sayana burst into tears and runs from her home. she wanders the land seaching for help only to be turned away.Days later she sadly returns home to her mother. At first her mother cries with joy until she sees the mark still on Sayana's arm. Before she can be cast aside, Sayana agree's to become the bride of the devil's son. That night she waits in an open field for Therin to claim her. Just past midnight he approaches on a mighty black steed. " Fear not Sayana, says Therin ,for I see the beauty in you and have claimed your goodness tosave my soul." As his hand touches her face, her plainess melts away to show her shining beauty.
